Kittie woes – Update

Well, I while back, I posted about about Vladimir’s(my cat) health problems. You can read part one here and part two here. The diagnosis was terminal cancer of the sinus. Prognosis: a few days. It’s been over a month and a half now, so I just wanted to update on his current status.

His cancer is not progressing as fast as the doctors thought. He’s still with us, shows energy, loves to chase the laser pointer, and is eating up a storm. His nose is more snotty(and it’s not bloody anymore), but he doesn’t appear to be in any pain. He’s much, much better than the day we took him in to the vet. But I’ve seen the CT scans, so I know there’s was no misdiagnosis, and he is 16 years old. It can’t be healed. It’s only a matter of time.

We also made a few decisions contrary to the vet’s recommendation. He also has hyperthyroidism. It was about a week after he started taking those meds that his face puffed up, and he looked like he’d been hit by a car. They recommended we keep him on that, to not have him waste away(he’s not). Our decision was the cancer will get him first, and the steroids(which helped a lot) are giving him plenty of an appetite, but we don’t want to risk the hyperthyroidism drugs again, since they can have major side effects.

Anyways, here’s a few more pics of him during the past few weeks, and hopefully more will follow:
